The Teachers
Sarah
Hello, I am Sarah. I was an English teacher for many years before taking up my current position as Academic Coordinator. It is now my job to ensure that Cairns College of English is providing the best possible instruction to our students.
One of my interests is traveling—I have been to Taiwan, London, South East Asia, South America, Europe, Canada and the United States. In fact, one of my most memorable experiences was driving around the US and Canada in an old Dodge campervan.
Angie
Hi, I’m Angie. I have taught in Japan and Australia and have been teaching with GEOS for eight years. I like teaching because I enjoy learning about the different cultures of my students.
I also enjoy going to the beach, dancing, listening to music (I have hundreds of CDs!), playing with my cat, and—most importantly—enjoying life.
Tom
Hi, I’m Tom and I’m originally from England. In the last ten years I’ve lived and worked around the world in France, New Zealand and most recently Japan. I’ve wanted to work in Cairns for a long time because of the relaxing lifestyle, friendly people and good food so I was very happy to move here earlier this year! Another reason I came here is because I love being outdoors and I spend a lot of my free time hiking, cycling and taking photographs.
I think Cairns the best place in the world to come and learn English so I hope to see you here very soon!
Glenda
My name is Glenda.
I have been teaching at GEOS for a year. I love teaching and meeting so many wonderful students from all over the world. Before I started teaching I worked in a Hospital as a social worker. I was born in Cairns and love living in the cleanest, most scenic city in Australia. I have traveled to many countries but always call Cairns home.
The lifestyle, people and environment make you feel wonderful, as there are always lots to see and do.
Lyn
Hi. My name is Lyn Carlyle-Jacob. Although I am from New Zealand, I am a long time Cairns resident who enjoys the climate and laid back lifestyle of the area. In the past I have traveled extensively and worked in both Australia and overseas.
I have been a teacher at GEOS Cairns for more than a year and enjoy meeting and teaching in our vibrant multi-cultural environment. Outside of school I am interests in reading, sailing, music and travel. I also enjoy spending time with my family and enjoying the great beaches, Tablelands and activities here in Cairns.
Giulia
Hi there! My name is Giulia and I come from Italy. After finishing my degree in Foreign Languages in my home town Bologna, I moved to Sydney where I studied to become an English Teacher. I have taught in Italy, New Zealand and Australia.
I have been working with GEOS Cairns since November 2006. I absolutely love this school and this city. I feel very lucky because here I can meet nice people every day and learn about new cultures from my students!
In my free time, I like dancing, going to the gym, shopping and having coffees with friends.
